Objectives At the end of the course, participants should be able to: Understand how to apply nutritional tools in a given situation Understand the rationale, key issues and the critical factors of food and micronutrients interventions Understand the interaction between micronutrients and the possible consequences for intervention strategies Identify emerging issues in food and micronutrient program intervention Design a plan of intervention and evaluate an intervention program
Topics Different types of nutritional tools: Food composition table, Food Guide, Dietary Guidelines, Food Exchange List Common approaches, weaknesses and strengths of different types of food and micronutrient interventions: i.e. food formulation, supplementary feeding, nutrient supplementation, fortification, biofortification, behavior change communication Food and micronutrient intervention in emergency settings Micronutrient interactions and its consequences for intervention programs Planning a nutrition intervention programs
